DJ Simon
The Syndicate, Sleaze DC.com
+
-
Simon is fast on the rise in the world of DJ'ing! Since selling his guitar and
buying turntables at the age of 16, this man has rocked some of the biggest
most vibrant dance floors on the east coast from Toronto to Miami.. and just
about everywhere in between with a style and passion all his own, with an edgy
sound somewhere between progressive, banging house, breaks, & funky techno
designed to lift any big room and more recently pushing & pioneering the retro-
electro-new wave-techno-nouveau revolution.
Simon is currently working alongside BuzzLife Productions and Mixer
Magazine, giving back to the industry just as much (and then some) as it has
given to him. He has also been spending a lot of time in the studio. His first
track ('Beat My Meat') was released in Jan 2001 on Mining Vinyl Records
(MVR004). He has also known to program live elements in to his DJ sets and you
can catch him dropping his own original, intentionally unreleased music and
remixes. His undeniable talent, dedication and enthusiasm have made him a
legend in the capitol city!

DJ Zelda
Metatrack Studios, DC
+
-
Juliette Siegfried aka Zelda became fascinated with dance music during the
disco era of the 70's. However, she didn't spin records herself until 1997,
when she was able to devote a significant portion of her time and resources to
becoming a highly skilled DJ. Zelda spins a unique and daring blend of techno,
techouse, progressive, and tribal house music inspired by her favorite DJs
Richie Hawtin, Derrick May, and John Digweed. The result is hard, pounding
music with danceability, depth and beauty.
Beyond DJ'ing, Zelda has greatly contributed to the scene. Having formed
AmtrakDJs.org, a highly respected community for the purpose of educating dance
music DJs (Amtrak currently boasts over 400 members). Then, in July of 2001,
Zelda left her full-time teaching job to open Metatrack Studios, a DJ and
producer studio and school in downtown DC.

Alex Bluefield
Acid Rain, DC
+
-
DJ Alex Bluefield spun his first record in 1999 and has been drawn to the
tables ever since! What started out as just fun quickly turned into a full time
passion. His moving style of trance, with a smidge of upbeat progressive, has
impressed DJs across the US.
His love for electronic music and melodic trance first developed after hearing
Paul Van Dyk at Buzz in DC. He soon discovered the vibrant underground scene in
DC and Baltimore, including the sound of DJ Scott Henry and his legendary Bit
o' Honey sets. These two DJs sparked his passion to spin music that moves a
dance floor!
Through years of hard work and frequent record shipments, he continues to hone
his talent and is looking to expose more listeners to trance done right. When
not spinning the latest releases, Alex also enjoys listening to everything from
techno to funky house!

DJ Mohawk Adam
TabooBaltimore, MD
+
-
One could say the name "Mohawk Adam" is synonymous to "DC Industrial/Goth
scene." Long referred to as "DC's Godfather of Industrial music", Adam has held
residencies at many of DC's best clubs. From the Fifth Colvmn to Nation
(including the venue's days known as the "Capital Ballroom") to The Roxy.
Probably his best known contribution to the DC industrial scene was the long
running Thursday night dance party at Tracks, which united DC's rave and
industrial scenes in a way never seen before or since. It's in that spirit that
we at Sovereign State welcome Adam for a turn behind the decks for a special
spotlight on EBM and Synthpop.
