How does the DJ Pool work?
Amongst all the tasks that a record label needs to perform, they need to find a way to get their music out to DJs who will help promote their records to potential customers. At the same time they need an accurate gauge as to how well their records are being received. By sending their promos to a DJ Pool, they accomplish this with the greatest of ease. The promos are then forwarded on to the subscribers of the pool, who submit a chart twice a month, detailing their Top 20 track rotation. The owners of the pool compile the chart into one master chart which is then reported back to the record labels giving them an overall view of how they’re fairing on the nation’s dance floors.
What benefit do you, as a DJ, get from the DJ Pool?
Obviously, the largest benefit is regular packages containing promo CDs from record labels. As we grow, these will become more and more exclusive, the only way to get advance promos from some of the best record labels will be through this DJ pool. Already, A Different Drum, seeing the benefit of a service such as this has arranged to transition their promo list to the Sovereign State DJ Pool. In addition, Sovereign State will provide you access to a member’s only web page featuring reviews of the newest CDs, tour dates (and info on upcoming tours available for booking when available), current charts, as well as a featured section where each month we’ll feature 2 different DJs subscribed to the pool with bio sheets and they’re latest charts.
How much can you expect to pay for a service like this?
Some pools charge up to $100 a month for this type of service. Sovereign State is offering their service at an introductory rate of $90 for your first year. Far less than most of us, as DJs, spend a month on new CDs This really only covers basic costs for us. The majority of which lies in shipping. Beyond that, we're offering a 6 month guarantee. Give us the chance to provide you with the quality you desire, and if you're not happy with what we've accomplished and the direction we're heading, we'll refund your $90 fee.
How do you sign up?
Please fill out our online application and, if available, attach a URL for a flyer or some printed ad for your club event.
After we verify the information is correct, we will contact you at which point you will send in payment. After you send in payment we will send you a username and password for the site, as well as send you your introductory promo packet.
